I've been very busy lately, studying for my test and making art and working... Sometimes it feels like I never have enough time to do everything I need to do, let alone find time for the things I *want* to do! Stay tuned though folks! I'll be posting pics of art and more very soon!

Anyone able to offer help?

I got this email today from a friend; even if you're not able to help directly, can you pass the message on please?
I have to find homes for my beloved cats and I am hoping that some of you may be able to help me by taking one in or helping me find good homes. I am moving over the month of June into a smaller home and my allergies and asthma just cannot handle all the cats anymore. I absolutely will NOT drop my babies off to just anyone, so I will have to know that without a doubt they will be loved and taken care of.

Calliope aka "Mamacita" - 10 year old neutered female, short haired tortoise shell, loves to hunt and prefers to be outside. She comes in to socialize once in a while or when she is not happy with the weather (rain or bitter cold). Loving and cuddly on her terms only. Territorial towards animals that don't belong to your family (she keeps my neighbor's full-grown boxer in line)

Apollo - Calliope's litter mate, neutered male, short-haired orange tiger, prefers to stay inside and be pampered, goes outside when he gets a wild hair turned in his tail, VERY lovey, liked to cuddle on your lap, tends to beg for food (he LOVES french fries and will do almost anything for cheese!).

Selene - Two year old female, not yet neutered (I will pay for her to be neutered when I catch her), short-haired gray tiger, has never been outside, feral to people but gets along with most other animals, LOVES dogs (go figure!). Would do best on a farm where she can go hide and not have to worry about people trying to touch her.

Pandora aka "Li'l Miss Thang" - (from Calliope's second litter) - 8 year old female, short-haired tortoise-shell/orange tiger combo (her face looks like a harlequin doll). I believe she is having kittens as I write (egads...). I am keeping her until her kittens are old enough to go (and they HAVE to go!). I will pay for her to be neutered as soon as the kittens are weaned. Diva attitude (doesn't like to touch floors because "dogs touch it"), tends to eat until she vomits, so you have to limit her food intake.

Kittens - don't know how many, sex or exactly when.

Contact me if you can help in any way!

BlogCarnival: May 21st

SweetSallysSoaps gives us the topic: Show me your all time favorite piece of art and why you find it inspiring.

For a while, I had wanted to Dress Up my purse, but didn't know what I wanted to do. When Esme bleached her jeans, I decided to pop my purse in too. When it came out, I thought the pale blue and white looked like clouds in the sky. So I thought a winged bunny (my mascot) would be perfect! I opted to use acrylic paint and see how well it worked...

Once I got started painting, I decided to include all the things that are important to Who I Am. Of course there is the winged rabbit, which turned out to be a hare, flying over a cloud, which symbolizes my spirit overcoming struggles. Then there's the rainbow, universal symbol of hope; to me it also represents not just Gay Pride and Diversity, but also Creativity and Art. But it didn't feel *done* then; there was a big empty space under the rainbow that needed something.

It was about this time that I realized that Spiders were a totem of mine. Spiders embody the qualities of creativity and creation, magic and wisdom, communication and connections, intuition and inspiration. They remind us that we are weaving our own destinies and we need use our creativity to build the web of our lives. So I added a garden spider and her web, which I embroidered on, using a very fine iridescent thread, and in it I sewed a pentacle, which represents my pagan spirituality. (I had to go over it with some white paint because it was too hard to see...)

But still there was the emptiness under the rainbow. I didn't want to paint anymore; so I added a butterfly and it's path with Sharpie marker. Obviously butterflies represent change and transformation, beauty and freedom; I also added a little a more symbolism by creating it from a lemniscate, the infinity symbol, shaped into two hearts, which to me (and perhaps others) expresses infinite love: polyamory, and it's done in the colors of bi-pride: purple, pink, and blue.

Naturally, I added some sparkle to the whole thing! ^-^

Pileated Woodpecker

I love this bird! I have been seeing them in our woods for a few years now, but this time, I caught him right in the yard on a dead stump! I wish I could have gotten some better photos, but I did get some video!
